How the images are chosen

Every image published on this site is either produced by the publisher or taken from a source that explicitly allows its reuse: public domain, Creative Commons licence, or the free licence of a photo library such as Unsplash.

No image is taken from a search engine, a social network or a third-party site without an identified licence. When the licence requires attribution, the author, the source and the licence are credited on this page.

The text of each Creative Commons licence cited here is published at creativecommons.org/licenses/, for example creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ for CC BY-SA 4.0. The GFDL 1.2 text is at gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/fdl-1.2.html.

The South Korea and Peru travel books contain no photographs from Wikimedia Commons: their images come from Unsplash+ and Pexels, whose licences allow commercial use without requiring attribution. They are mentioned here as a matter of principle, like the photographs on the site.
